British Columbia Ambulance Service  (BCAS)  covers an area of approximately 100,000 sq. kilometers from the Alberta border in the east, west to the Yukon Border, and from the North West Territories south to the Sikanni Chief River.

Fort Nelson BCAS has four cars available for use in the Northern Rockies Regional District.  We serve the oil patch and we can fly at a moments notice anywhere in the district.   BCAS will fly many air evacuation patients into and out of the North West Territories or Alberta on any given day.

Station "858" has one full time member who is the Unit Chief, and eighteen  highly trained professional personnel, including EMA, EMA I and II to CMA EMA's and Paramedics I.  The training consists of Justice Institute Courses, Paramedics Academy, WCB courses (trauma, pre-hospital care, triage, AED, spinal management, etc.).

The diversity of our area can have a paramedic on any call, flying into an area only to take a snowmobile to get to the patient.  A paramedic with BCAS is prepared to respond anywhere and at anytime to help the people of our region.
