"At Your Service For Your Safety"

FORT NELSON FIRE/RESCUE  “Answering the call since 1961"

Fort Nelson Fire rescue under the leadership of Chief Walt Lutsiak since 1991, is a composite department comprised of six full time IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) members and up to 20 part time paid-on-call fire fighters. This highly competent team of professionals proudly serves more than 6000 people in a fire district of approximately 45 square miles. The department operates three pumpers and one rescue unit out of one station and provides protection to a large industrial area and both rural and urban residential areas. We have an extensive Wild land urban interface with rural subdivisions nestled amongst the spruce and aspen forests prevalent in the north.

Fort Nelson is a vibrant community with several lumber mills including one of the largest OSB plants in BC, gas fields and with the Alaska Highway as our main street, a large number of tourists traveling through our area. This diversity makes our jobs demanding and requires us to maintain a high standard of skills in diverse areas ranging from First Responder medical care through fire fighting to motor vehicle extrication. We also provide a proactive prevention program of inspections and education for students and adults in our community. We visit businesses and schools on a regular schedule and offer training to the public in areas such as fire extinguisher operations and safety.    Fire Hall Non-Emergency Phone Number:  (250) 774-3955
