FORT NELSON-LIARD REGIONAL DISTRICT
POLICY & PROCEDURE MANUAL
During construction of the Phoenix Theatre, paving stones were used to replace/build sidewalk areas around the Town Square Project. At that time several business owners also replaced sidewalk areas in front of their establishments with paving stone (CIBC & Scotiabank).
Due to the aesthetic value of the paving stones over pavement it was the
general consensus of the Town Council that in future, where possible, it would
be preferable to use paving stones for sidewalk replacement throughout the
business district of Fort Nelson.
Policy/Objective
To use paving stones in lieu of pavement for sidewalk replacement with a goal
to eventually replace all sidewalks in the business district with paving stones,
thereby enhancing the overall appearance of Fort Nelson.
Implementation
The Director of Operational Services will tender for both concrete and paving stones for replacement of sidewalks in future and further that for sidewalks directly in front of business properties, sidewalk replacement with paving stone will take place where the business owner also intends to replace his portion with paving stone and that preference will be given to replacing concrete sidewalks with paving stones.
