- Discussion in regards to the Strategic Communications Plan was diarized to the May 12th Regional Council Meeting.
- Regional Council inquired as to the progress of the report requested summarizing possible “worst case scenario” items for the Secondary Ice Surface and Recreation Complex project and associated processes. The report should also detail what the contingency plans may be in the event the referendum fails.
- Staff was requested to coordinate a meeting with Regional Council and the Provincial Minister of Finance regarding the Climate Action Charter and Carbon Tax.
-Residents Shirley Scott, Grace Bumstead and Louise Schindler presented Regional Council with a significant number (approx. 500) of signed Elector Response Forms for Bylaw No. 193, 2008.
-In regards to the Town of Fort Nelson Sewer Frontage Tax Bylaw No. 728, 2008, staff was requested to review the rates every five years to ensure that they remain current with regional averages.
-Regional Council resolved that the governance body for the Regional Council for the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality be comprised of a Mayor and six Councillors
- Regional Councillor Allen gave a brief statement in recognition of April 28th being Worksafe BC’s Day of Mourning, and in remembrance of several local lives lost on the job. Regional Council requested that staff devise some recommendations of how the community may honour the lives of those lost in workplace accidents, and commemorate Worksafe BC’s Day of Mourning.

- Staff Sergeant Roy presented the March 2008 Detachment Report and gave a brief update on the Rotary Spray Park Project.
- The Town of Fort Nelson Five Year Financial Plan Bylaw No. 724, 2008 was given first, second, and third readings.
- The Town of Fort Nelson Rates Bylaw No. 725, 2008 was given first, second, and third readings.
- The Town of Fort Nelson 2008 Water System Improvements Bylaw No. 726, 2008 was given first, second, and third readings.
-The Town of Fort Nelson 2008 Sewer System Improvements Bylaw No. 727, 2008 was given first, second, and third readings.
- The Town of Fort Nelson Sewer Frontage Tax Bylaw No. 728, 2008 was given first, second, and third readings.
- In response to the correspondence received from grade four students of J.S. Clark, Regional Council requested that staff prepare a letter thanking the students for their environmental stewardship.
- Regional Councillor Allen recognized the tragedy of the vandalism to the vehicles at the Museum, and requested that the municipality extend an offer of assistance to clean up the damage. CAO McLean agreed to conduct a site inspection and offer assistance if required.

- Regional Council requested that the staff responsible for recycling in Fort Nelson review the Climate Action Charter as part of the research for program development.
- In regards to the proposed Fort Nelson Horn River Basin Symposium, Regional Council passed a resolution to proceed with planning for the event, as well as a resolution for a request for proposals for the Event Coordinator position, and a resolution to approve the proposed event budget. Regional Council requested that the Fort Liard First Nation also be engaged and invited to attend. Regional Council further resolved that Colin Griffith be appointed as Symposium Coordinator, while David Molinski be the appointed Oil & Gas Industry representative, and his colleague Maureen Murphy be the Communications representative.
- Regional Council discussed at length the Recreation Complex/Secondary Ice Surface project, and requested that an updated list of essential/non-essential factors be presented at the May 12th Regional Council Meeting. Further, it was requested that the diagram which depicted the location of the temporary dressing rooms & concession be provided for the public at the upcoming Chamber of Commerce Tradeshow, as well as updated copies of the project budget.
